Rob has spent most summers of his life on or in the water around Nantucket. Raised in Connecticut, he found himself a thousand miles away from the ocean in Michigan, where he studied theatre arts and photography. Returning to the Atlantic, he was a technical director at Boston’s Huntington Theatre and an instructor for the Boston University School of Theatre Arts. But the urge to return to Nantucket brought him back year ‘round. His photographs are now seen in many Nantucket publications, as well as the Boston Globe, New York Times, and Cape Cod Times. He has been a writer and photographer for the Nantucket Inquirer and Mirror and was chief photographer for the Nantucket Beacon during its nine year existence. Rob and his wife Carol live near the bluff in ‘Sconset, safely away from the pounding waves, but near enough to hear them.
After completing Scallop Season, Rob’s next project was as photographer documenting the historic Sankaty Head Lighthouse move for the ‘Sconset Trust, memorialized in the book Keeping The Light.
